With age, the skin of the face slowly loses elasticity, causing wrinkles and a mildly drooping brow. The accompanying creases and lines can present a sad, old or tired appearance. During the procedure, the surgeon elevates the skin and underlying tissues of the upper face, and may then remove part of the muscle between the brows that causes frown lines.
