Jonathan Pontell, MD, FACS Jonathan Pontell, M.D. formed The Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery Center to bring the highest quality facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgical services to the Delaware Valley. By limiting his practice exclusively to facial surgery, as opposed to working on the entire body, Dr. Pontell has been able to gain vast experience and offer the most innovative, effective and safest techniques. The Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery Center brings together experienced doctors from the disciplines of Facial Plastic Surgery and Dermatology. This gives Dr. Pontell's patients easy access to high quality skin care including full aesthetic skin care services and products. Dr. Pontell fell in love with the Delaware Valley when he was a medical student at Jefferson Medical College, and always dreamed of returning there to practice and raise his family. He graduated from Jefferson where he was inducted into the Hobart Amory Hare Medical Honor Society. Dr. Pontell went on to do a residency in Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at The State University of New York - Health Science Center at Brooklyn and then a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. After his fellowship, Dr. Pontell, pursuant to a military scholarship, served for 3-1/2 years as the Director of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tripler Army Medical Center in Hawaii. Tripler, being the primary Military Medical Center for the entire Pacific Rim, has patients referred in from throughout Asia and the islands of Central and South Pacific. Dr. Pontell also served as a visiting surgeon to the Republic of the Marshall Islands and to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Pontell also served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine and trained many surgical residents and medical students in the art and science of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Pontell has lectured across the country at national medical meeting and has published many medical journal articles and three book chapters. In addition, he has run Continuing Medical Education courses on Facial Rejuvenation and Facial Reconstruction Surgery for other doctors. Dr. Pontell has also served as both Preseident and Treasurer of the Hawaii Society of Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Pontell is Board Certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Pontell is proud to donate his services as part of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery's Face to Face Program. Through this program, Dr. Pontell provides free surgical treatment to victims of domestic violence. Outside of his passion for Facial Plastic Surgery, Dr. Pontell loves spending time with his family, collecting antique art glass, nature photography, making stained glass windows and skiing.
