ArteFill® is FDA approved for use as a facial filler to treat only the nasolabial folds, or "smile lines". For patients with deep furrows or creases, ArteFill can replace the use of temporary fillers and save the patient time and money by eliminating the need for regular treatments.

If you have not had an injectable filler in the past, your doctor may recommend a temporary filler first in order to determine the best placement and amount of volume for your needs. Other fillers include Juvederm, Restylane, Perlane, Sculptra, Radiesse.

ArteFill is often combined with Botox and temporary fillers to achieve a complete non-surgical facelift, sometimes referred to as the Injectable Facelift or the VolumaLift.

ArteFill technology is based on both proprietary precision-filtered injectable microspheres and purified bovine collagen. ArteFill received FDA approval in November of 2006.

ArteFill can permanently eliminate unsightly lines and wrinkles, leaving the skin looking younger, radiant, and revitalized. Effects look extremely natural.

Generally, there is virtually no discomfort at all at the time of the ArteFill or Artecoll treatment. Rarely, there is some mild stinging for a day or two afterward.

PMMA, the technology behind the microspheres, has been used in medicine and dentistry for over 30 years and has been left inside thousands of patients as bone cement and in other forms for many years with no allergies or any harmful effects.

Collagen has also been used for decades with no proof of any health risk. Rarely, as with any filler substance, irregularities have been reported which are normally readily treatable.

Allergy testing is required for Artefill, usually by a tiny forearm injection and followed by a 30 day waiting period to confirm that you are not allergic to Artefill.
