New Alternative for Liposuction - Focused Ultrasound Debuts at ASPS

The study “Non-invasive Body Contouring by Focused Ultrasound-Summary of Clinical Results from Three Clinical Trials” was presented, Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005 at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons Conference in Chicago.

One of the hot new therapies discussed over the weekend was the introduction of “Focused Ultrasound.” In three different studies, just one treatment was enough to produce a reduction in the circumference of the area treated. In other words, inches are lost in an instant. Focused Ultrasound is a single visit “walk-in walk-out” non-invasive procedure for sculpting legs and abdominal regions.

Using ultrasound, plastic surgeons disrupt, destroy and disperse targeted fat cells, giving patients the benefits of liposuction without the pain and recovery time. Read more about Focused Ultrasound on the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ website at www.plasticsurgery.org.

"It is not like liposuction, which can remove a great deal of fat," says Dr. Rod Rohrich, MD, former president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

"But it is perfect for patients who have no desire for surgery, but are looking for modest reductions in these problem areas."
