The new generation of LipoSonix will be coming soon to an aesthetic practice near you. Solta Medical, the manufacturer of Thermage, Fraxel and other very popular aesthetic devices announced today that Health Canada, a Canadian regulatory agency has issued clearance for its second generation device. LipoSonix now has U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA Clearance), CE Mark Certification (for Europe) and Health Canada clearance. The device is expected to be marketed in the first quarter of 2012.
LipoSonix will be competing in against other non-surgical, body contouring devices like the Exilis, VASER Shape and the Zeltiq. It will be interesting to see how LipoSonix compares to the existing technology.
According to Solta Medical, the manufacturer, the LipoSonix system uses advanced high–intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology to permanently destroy targeted fat just beneath the skin in the treatment areas of the abdomen and flanks as a noninvasive, nonsurgical approach to aesthetic waist circumference reduction.
