Noted Beverly Hills Facial Plastic Surgeon Announces Five Megatrends For 2009
The Biggest Trends All Revolve Around One Major Trend, The Desire For More Natural Results
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) December 18, 2008 - Behrooz Torkian, M.D., an internationally acclaimed dual board certified facial and reconstructive plastic surgeon, has announced the five megatrends that will profoundly influence medical aesthetics in 2009. Dr. Torkian has medical practices in Beverly Hills and Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. He has appeared on Fox 11 Good Day L.A. and Fox 10 News in Phoenix, and has been quoted in USA Today and CosmeticSurgery.com. He is also a contributor to Les Nouvelles Esthetiques & Spa and RealSelf.com. According to Dr. Torkian, "The biggest trends all involve around one major trend - more natural results." Fat Grafting - From lip plumping and Brazilian butt sculpting to facial rejuvenation and augmentation of lost fat, this will be the biggest trend in 2009. Fat grafting provides more natural looking and feeling results than traditional surgery. Fat also contains some stem cells. Another benefit is that fat grafting gives more of a permanent fix than fillers such as Radiesse and Restylane. Natural Looking Rhinoplasty - Ski slope and overly sculpted noses are out. The new trend is toward a more conservative, natural appearance, keeping the nose larger, but with results that are subtle and attractive. Younger Women Seeking Treatments - There are a growing number of younger women seeking treatments for things generally considered suitable for more mature women. Eyelid surgery of the upper and lower eyelids is the most common. There are a number of treatments including Restylane under the eyelids and fat grafting under the eyelids. The most important concept in lower eyelid treatment in young women in their twenties and thirties is that they appear to have eyelid bags, but what they really have is loss of fat underneath the eyelids - right on the bottom of the eye socket. "Some traditional surgeons would recommend removal of fat (lower eyelid surgery that is called transjunctival). I do not recommend this because it causes a gaunt appearance," says Dr. Torkian. Increase in Teenage Nose Jobs (Rhinoplasty) - Recent studies from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery indicate that surgical, cosmetic procedures performed on teens age 18 and younger have nearly quadrupled in the past ten years. In 2007, the number of procedures topped 200,000 and the trend is only going to continue. Although surgery in teens is safe, side effects and complications should be seriously discussed with teens desiring surgery. Silicone Breast Implants - They're back! Thanks to improved technology and a more natural feel, silicone will be a popular alternative to other implant materials. About Dr. Torkian (noseandface.com):
