New Laser Treatment Eliminates Unsightly Varicose Veins in 45 Minutes' Spider Veins Are Also Treated with a Similar Process
Surgical vein removal isn't necessary anymore. There is now a laser procedure that works to reduce or eliminate unsightly purple and red veins without the need for any incisions. A similar laser treatment is effective for "spider" veins.
Florham Park, NJ (PRWEB) February 25, 2009 - Dr. Philip Seaver of North Jersey Laser & Vein Center uses the Dornier D940 Diode Laser to eliminate unsightly leg veins. Using a hand piece that looks like a large pen with a wire attached, he places the tip directly on the skin over the vein. He then activates the laser several times along the length of the vein. The laser effectively closes the vein so that blood can no longer flow through. This decreases or completely gets rid of unsightly purple and red veins. Most patients describe the treatments as a "hot" sensation. Others describe the vein removal process feeling like "tiny pinches". Either way, the feeling is fleeting, lasting less than a second. The Dornier system has FDA clearance for the Endoluminal Laser Ablation of the Great Saphenous Vein (EVLT) procedure using its D940 diode laser system. This laser has a unique wavelength that is specially designed to treat superficial veins. The system can now be used in different ways to treat both spider and varicose veins. The Dornier D940 laser is the only system designed with a 940 nm wavelength. This wavelength ensures physician-users with the safe, precise and effective targeting of vessels because of its deep penetration, optimal absorption characteristics in hemoglobin and water and minimal melanin absorption. EVLT is performed in-office with local anesthesia. The 45-minute, minimally invasive procedure requires virtually no post-operative patient recovery time and is a safe and cost-effective replacement for vein stripping and ligation. Dr. Seaver believes that the Dornier D940 is the most effective laser system for the treatment of spider and varicose veins. The system can replace stripping for up to 85 percent of patients who have saphenous vein insufficiency. Some patients may also require a Micro Phlebectomy to get rid of varicose veins.
