Philadelphia NBC channel 10 featured a piece with Dr. Flor Mayoral and patient Grace Velazquez, where Thermage was used to tighten the skin on her face. Great results sold Ms. Velasquez on Thermage, a procedure that treats lax skin through radiofrequency energy. Since diet and exercise failed to make a big enough difference on her stomach, she tried Body by Thermage.

Thermage causes the skin of the face to shrink as the small fibers that connect the skin to underlying tissue are replaced naturally by the body over time. The process rejuvenates the skin from beneath the surface.

Although no formal trials have been conducted, about three years ago, Thermage was approved by the FDA for use on the face. Since then, arms, backs, butts, and abdomens have improved with the method. If a tummy tuck is needed, Thermage won’t help. It is only suitable for people who need to tighten minor looseness. The tightening process takes about four months overall, but the process can be repeated if needed. The cost is roughly $3,000-$6,000 for abdominal application.
