Body Jet - A New Liposuction Procedure on Houston Channel 11 News

Liposuction procedure touted as quick recovery, the water lipo device called Body Jet is featured

The feature was about Dr. Jeffrey Caruth of Plano Aesthetics in the Dallas Texas area. Dr. Caruth has a new device called a Body Jet which uses water pressure to break up fat which then gets sucked out of the body. According to the story, patients have a quicker recovery time and the procedure can be performed while the patient is awake under local anesthesia much like SmartLipo.

This procedure was FDA approved in the fall of 2008 so there are currently only around 20 units in the United States. However, the popularity is growing and interest at the recent American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery annual scientific meeting showed that Cosmetic Surgeons were very interested in the new technology.

This procedure is also referred to as "Water Assisted Liposuction" or WAL

The news story went on to say that the typical recovery time was about one day and the Body Jet costs about $2,000 per treated area.
