Hair Transplant Pioneer Named "Best Doctor" in New York Magazine for 10th Consecutive Year
Dr. Robert M. Bernstein, the only hair transplant physician to be included in New York Magazine's 2009 Best Doctors edition for ten consecutive years, was selected as one of the top 1,107 physicians by a peer-review survey of 12,000 New York City area medical professionals.
New York, NY (PRWEB) June 11, 2009 -- Robert M. Bernstein, M.D., F.A.A.D., world-renowned pioneer of the hair transplant technique Follicular Unit Transplantation , has been selected one of New York Magazine's 2009 "Best Doctors." It is the tenth consecutive year he is honored as one of the region's best physicians.
The 1,107 physicians included in the annual special issue of New York Magazine are representative of the top 10 percent of New York area doctors in a variety of fields; from primary care to oncology to dermatology to sports medicine. Dr. Bernstein is the only hair transplant physician included among the top doctors for ten consecutive years. The list is based on an annual peer-review survey conducted by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., a New York City research and information company that publishes the guidebook Top Doctors: New York Metro Area. Each year Castle Connolly processes 12,000 nomination forms that are distributed to medical professionals in each of New York City's five boroughs - Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx, and Staten Island - plus doctors in Westchester County, Long Island, and portions of New Jersey and Connecticut. These medical industry peers are asked to nominate their choice of best doctors in a particular field and to take into account several criteria; including a physician's: education, residency, board certification, hospital appointment, disciplinary record, ability to deal with and communicate with patients, and ability to instill trust. Dr. Bernstein, a Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Columbia University in New York, is the director of Bernstein Medical - Center for Hair Restoration, a state-of-the-art hair transplant facility in Midtown Manhattan. He has appeared in New York Magazine's special issue "Best Beauty Docs in New York" for his pioneering work in Follicular Unit Transplantation and Follicular Unit Extraction. Dr. Bernstein has also made many appearances on television and in the media including such notable programs as The Today Show; Good Morning America; Fox News; National Public Radio; and, most recently, The Oprah Winfrey Show. He is co-author of Hair Loss & Replacement for Dummies, The Patient's Guide to Hair Restoration, and numerous medical publications.
