Dr. Jennifer Berman, female sexual health expert, discusses some helpful treatments for increasing the female libido today on "The Doctors."

For many people, with age comes a decrease in sexual desire. Now there are several treatment options available to help give the libido the boost it needs.

Today on "The Doctors", Dr. Jennifer Berman discusses some of the options available to frustrated women who are looking to regain that spark. One option is over-the-counter testosterone creams made to increase sensitivity. Testosterone is a sexual steroid hormone that is known to affect one's sensitivity. Unfortunately, according to Dr. Berman, those who have libido issues often find the testosterone and other topical solutions are just not enough.

Another treatment Dr. Berman uses is an oxytocin nasal spray. Oxytocin is a hormone also associated with sexual desire. It is the same hormone that causes uterine contractions during childbirth and studies indicate that oxytocin levels rise during orgasm.

Dr. Berman also discusses the Eros Therapy device. This is a little, handheld unit that is placed over the clitoris. Through gentle suction, blood flow to the area is increased, along with sensitivity and lubrication. It can be used before intercourse or on its own to condition the clitoris. It is only available through a doctor's prescription and may take a few weeks for the benefits to take effect.

Some women turn to vaginal rejuvenation treatments. There are several different types of surgery available depending on the desired results. Vaginal rejuvenation surgery, also called vaginoplasty, will reduce internal vaginal mucosa, which tightens the canal. This can help increase muscle tone, control and strength, and potentially increase pleasurable friction during intercourse.

Also available is G-Spot amplification. The G-Spot, so named for its discoverer Dr. Ernst Grafenberg, is a small, cushy spot on the anterior vaginal wall. While some experts disagree about whether or not it truly exists, when stimulated, the G-Spot can increase sexual pleasure. Dr. David Matlock invented the "G-Shot" in which the G-Spot is injected with collagen, causing it to enlarge and become more sensitive and easier to find.

None of these treatments are considered a cure for female sexual dysfunction. Your doctor can work with you to come up with a plan to best suit your physical and psychological needs.
