Treating Your Age Spots With Fraxel

Brown spots go by many names, but no matter what you call them, we all want them gone. Fraxel offers a way to treat age spots quickly and effectively.

Fraxel is FDA approved to treat age spots, which are also often called sunspots, brown spots, and liver spots. All of these terms apply to what are generally known medically as pigmented lesions. These are areas of the skin that have an excess of melanin. Melanin is a substance in the skin meant to protect the skin from sun damage. When the skin is overexposed, occasionally the melanin can build up in a certain spot, causing it to appear brown.

Fraxel has become the name to know in fractional resurfacing. The system uses a laser to send a fractionated pulse to the skin's surface, penetrating deep so that even the skin's layer of collagen will begin to redevelop. Using several dots of light as opposed to a solid stream allows the skin to heal more quickly. Fraxel for brown spots is a good choice for many, but always check with your doctor.
