Dr. Roger Bassin of Melbourne, Florida has developed a new liposuction technique called Aqualipo(TM). It is a combination liposuction procedure that uses laser lipolysis and Body-Jet to sculpt the body efficiently and gently.
"Liposuction as we know it will become obsolete," says Dr. Roger Bassin. Traditional liposuction and laser lipo procedures require forceful back and forth motions to suction out the fat. This aggressive movement under the skin can damage blood vessels and nerves, as well as leave behind unsightly lumps.
AquaLipo is different. Dr. Bassin uses laser lipolysis to melt the fat, and then uses a jet of high pressure water to flush out the fatty tissue. He does still use a cannula to aspirate the emulsified fat, but that process only requires about 10% of the exertion previously necessary. The water is able to separate the fat from the tissues while maintaining the tissue structure.
The AquaLipo process allows more precise sculpting and better predictability according to Dr. Bassin. He is now training physicians in AquaLipo.
The recovery is minimal and there is little to no damage to the nerves and blood vessels. The attachments between the skin and the deeper structures remain intact, allowing for a more naturally tightened result. Also, the procedure may be more cost effective as only local anesthesia is necessary.
