Boosting Women's Confidence Levels Through Vaginal Rejuvenation

Women now have hope for their concerns about the appearance of their vaginas.

For years, women with large vaginal lips suffered with their problem in silence, feeling embarrassed or unsure of whether there was any solution. Some women, such as 31-year-old Cynthia, said that she “grew up with large vaginal lips” and “was uncomfortable in my clothes or exercising or during sex.” Despite her discomfort, which she reports worsened as she got older, Cynthia did not realize she was different from anyone else until she saw a labiaplasty performed on "Dr. 90210", a television show highlighting a plastic surgery practice in Los Angeles.

For some of these women with large vaginal lips, the problem is purely cosmetic. For others, like Cynthia, large labia lips can actually be a medical problem. In fact, Dr. Allan Parunguo, author of "A Woman’s Guide to Cosmetic Breast Surgery and Body Contouring", reports that “large or uneven labia lips can cause problems with urination and feminine hygiene.” Infections, discomfort, and pain during sex or exercising are also common side effects.

Fortunately, labiaplasty offers a solution for women uncomfortable with the size of their vaginal lips. Dr. Parungao assures women that "labiaplasty can correct problems with both the appearance and functionality of a woman’s genitals.”

Uneven or oversized vaginal lips are caused by a number of factors, including genetics, child birth or hormones. While most women come into doctor’s offices concerned about whether they are normal or not, the increasing popularity of the surgery demonstrates that the problem is not uncommon. Television shows like "Dr. 90210" brought the idea of labiaplasty to the mainstream, helping more women to become aware of the solution to this potentially painful and embarrassing problem.

If your large vaginal lips are causing you pain or interfering with the functionality of your genitals, the surgery may even be considered reconstructive surgery. If so, in many cases the procedure can be covered by your insurance.

Patients who have undergone labiaplasty report satisfaction with the procedure. Amy, a 27-year-old patient who also first saw the procedure on "Dr. 90210", underwent surgery because sex with her husband was painful. She reports that the surgery “has made a huge difference in my marriage and my confidence level.” Amy went on to say that she thinks “labiaplasty is definitely worth it… I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.”
