TRIA Receives FDA Clearance for At-Home Blue Light Acne Treatment
Acne treatment with blue light therapy comes home as TRIA's new device receives FDA approval.
TRIA Beauty recently announced that their hand-held blue light device for at-home acne treatment has received over the counter (OTC) clearance from the FDA. The device is cleared to treat mild to moderate inflammatory acne.
Blue light has been shown to eliminate the bacteria that causes acne with little to no harsh side effects. According to the manufacturer, TRIA's new technology is 10 times more powerful than other currently available OTC blue light devices which allows for shorter treatment time and faster results. In multiple clinical studies, when used twice a day for two to three minutes, the TRIA blue light technology cleared breakouts as well as professional blue light treatments and the leading prescription drug therapy. Further, the TRIA system was more effective than any other OTC option. TRIA Beauty also manufactures the first and only FDA approved at-home laser hair removal system. The new blue light device was developed by the same scientists who designed the TRIA Laser Hair Removal System. The new blue light device will be launched as the foundation of a dermatologist-validated system for clear skin. "Our new FDA-cleared technology paves the way for a brand new proposition in the skincare category which will ultimately redefine clear, calm and healthy-looking skin," said Kevin Appelbaum, CEO of TRIA Beauty. "This strengthens our product portfolio and positions TRIA Beauty for continued growth." The new TRIA system will be available in Spring 2010 on TRIABeauty.com and select retailers.
