New Suture Suspension Techniques for Thread Face Lift, Featherlift, Contour Threads

The panel “Suture Suspension for Facial Rejuvenation: Does It Really Work?” was held Sunday, Sept. 25 at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons Conference in Chicago.

A new variation on the barbed suture has been developed for non surgical thread face lift. According to an article on www.plasticsurgery.org, these new “Trumpet” sutures, a hybrid of the barbed suture, are currently being tested and starting to make a mark in the industry. A trumpet suture resembles a Hawaiian flower. Once the suture is passed through the tissue, it is tugged on by the plastic surgeon, creating a cavity which fills with the overlying tissue, creating an even stronger anchor for the stitch.

“Although trumpet sutures are still being tested, they may prove to be stronger than barbed sutures while offering the same benefits – quick results and a fast recovery time,” said Nicanor Isse, MD, ASPS Member Surgeon.
