Acoustic Wave Therapy Makes Cellulite Reduction a Reality
As bathing suit season quickly approaches, its time to arm for the war on Cellulite.
If you’re like most women, you’ve tried various ways to reduce the appearance of cellulite on your thighs and buttocks and have been repeatedly disappointed. But now a breakthrough technology called Acoustic Wave Therapy could provide you with new hope. Anyone can have cellulite, although it is most common in women. Even those who exercise regularly and are of a healthy weight can have problems with dimpled skin on their buttocks and thighs. The fact is, weight has little to do with whether or not you have cellulite. Genetics, hormones and lifestyle all play a part in the accumulation of lipids in fat cells. Enlarged fat cells under the skin exert pressure on the circulatory system, which causes a slow intake of nutrients and decreased drainage of waste products. This leads to a stiffening of the connective tissue, which pulls the skin down. Meanwhile the enlarged fat cells push the skin up, causing a dimpled appearance on the skin. Acoustic Wave Therapy vibrates the connective tissue to stretch it and increase its elasticity. It also increases vascularization, or the development of capillaries in the body tissue, which allows for greater intake of nutrients and increased drainage of waste products. In addition, the procedure produces an inflammatory reaction that results in the deposit of thicker collagen in the upper and mid layers of the skin. Acoustic Wave Therapy treatments typically last less than a half an hour per session and patients are generally treated twice per week for three weeks. Additional treatments may be necessary and patients may want to have a maintenance session every three months after the initial treatment package. After completing treatment, patients may notice improved skin texture and elasticity, firming of the top layer of the skin and even a loss of inches in the area that was treated.
