Aluma Lifts Sagging Eyes Without Surgery
It is now possible to lift tired, sagging eyes without surgery and with no downtime, thanks to Aluma. New procedure may be non-surgical alternative to blepharoplasty.
Aluma is a laser skin tightening system that can be used to tighten and lift the eye at the brow line, reduce puffiness, and tighten sagging areas around the eyes. It has also been shown to reduce crow’s feet and lighten dark circles under the eye. Until Aluma, doctors were unable to perform laser treatments around the eyes due to possible retinal damage caused by the eye absorbing the light. Because Aluma uses radio frequency (RF) energy and suction technology, it has been deemed safe for use around the eyes, including the eyelid and the under eye region. The suction allows doctors to focus the heat caused by the RF energy on a precise target area without affecting the surrounding tissue. The RF energy bypasses the epidermis, or top layers of the skin, and penetrates the dermis, or deeper layers of the skin, contracting and regenerating collagen.
Since Aluma does not directly affect the top layers of skin, the procedure is virtually pain free and patients are able to immediately return to their daily activities. Some patients may experience some redness in the treated area due to the suction, but this typically dissipates within a couple of days. The procedure takes around 15 minutes to complete and the average cost per treatment is around $250. Several treatments are usually required to see full results. Aluma has been determined safe and effective for all skin types and skin colors.
