Two First to Market Devices Featured at Major Medical Shows in Chicago and New York

LaserTight’s SelectScan and EyeTight systems will be showcased at the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive meeting in Chicago, IL at the Medical Aesthetics Conference & Expo in New York.

The market shift toward less invasive procedures and the 78 million baby boomer demographic segment has led to the development of technology that addresses both the demands of patients and physicians seeking non-surgical alternatives for skin rejuvenation.

Meeting these demands LaserTight will unveil two of their first-to-market devices at major medical shows being held this weekend. As an alternative modality for blepharoplasty, one of the most popular surgical procedures, LaserTight will showcase their EyeTight system. EyeTight, which requires 980 nanometer laser energy delivered through a 20 gauge customized endoprobe, vaporizes fat cells in the lower lids while simultaneously promoting tightening of skin. The 15 minute procedure requires only local anesthesia and no sutures.

LaserTight’s medical director, Dr. Mark Solomon, a plastic surgeon in Philadelphia, PA, has been using the technique for a year. To date Dr. Solomon equates the long term results achieved with the EyeTight to be comparable to conventional transconjunctival blepharoplasty.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery’s 2007 Statistics Report lists blepharoplasty as one of the top three surgical procedures; laser skin resurfacing is listed among the top five non-surgical procedures. To accommodate demand for laser skin resurfacing that produces long term results and minimal downtime LaserTight will feature the first portable CO2 fractional hand piece, the SelectScan. The portable hand piece allows doctors to convert their CO2 lasers into a fractional system.

In the two decades since the introduction of the CO2 laser manufacturers have introduced numerous devices incorporating various technologies, all claiming to significantly reduce or eliminate the healing time commonly associated with CO2 procedures. Many physicians now agree that combining the oldest technology, CO2 laser, with the latest, fractional laser, allows physicians to provide their patients the best of both technologies.

A cosmetic surgeon in Newport Beach, CA, Dr. John Caruso, who has served as a clinical investigator for the SelectScan, stated that CO2 ablative laser resurfacing using fractionated laser energy is currently one of the most popular and reliable ways to achieve long-lasting cosmetic changes. Compared to CO2 resurfacing procedures, which required weeks of healing time, the fractionated laser procedure typically reduces recovery time to five days. According to Dr. Caruso, “The SelectScan ablates the skin in a pre-selected pattern and the bridges of untouched skin between the dots provide a natural healing process. New collagen formation typically begins at the time of dermal injury and continues for many months, resulting in progressive improvement in skin texture and tightening.”

LaserTight’s SelectScan and EyeTight systems will be showcased at booth #120 at the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive meeting in Chicago, IL and booth #217 at the Medical Aesthetics Conference & Expo in New York.
