botoxBOTOX ® FDA Approved for treating sweaty armpits

BOTOX ® which is best known for treating facial wrinkles has been approved by the FDA for a new purpose, to diminish armpit sweat. Many providers have been using BOTOX ® to relieve excessive sweat from patients for years, such use was considered "off-label", however, now that specific testing has been done by the FDA, a patient can feel assured knowing that rigorous testing, studies and trials have been performed on the procedure.

Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) affects about one percent of the population. Sufferers of hyperhidrosis are often embarrassed to participate in many activities because of their excessive perspiration, usually in the armpits or on their palms and feet. This treatment, which is shot just under the skins surface and not deep into the muscle, lasts around 6 to 12 months and should cost somewhere between $1,000 and $1,200.
