In order for your doctor to have the most detailed information about the shape of your eyes, he or she will utilize the technology known as the LADARWave™ CustomCornea® Wavefront System. A narrow ray of eye-safe light will pass through the eye, plotting a topographical map of the surface of your eye. These patterns are then compared with other diagnostic information collected by your ophthalmologist. The CustomCornea® Wavefront System is used to measure distortions in your eye's entire optical system, allowing for correction of both lower and higher order aberrations and improving both visual acuity and visual quality.
Until CustomCornea®, it was not possible to correct higher order aberrations. Traditional vision correction or conventional laser vision correction only allows for correction of 85-90% of the imperfections in the eye.
