 Hand Rejuvenation

While the skin of the face, neck and decolletage may take center stage in the fight against aging, the condition of one's hands might not be considered. Hands are often damaged by the sun, which can be seen as freckles and age spots. As a woman ages, she might also lose fat tissue in the back of the hands, creating a bony, skeletal appearance. Even the veins may become prominent and unattractive.

Cosmetic surgeons can address the aging of the hands. Several procedures are typically used to treat aging hands, including laser skin resurfacing with Fraxel, Thermage, Refirme, or IPL which can remove spots and broken capillaries.

For larger blood vessels, sclerotherapy, during which a chemical is injected into the veins, can whiten and eventually shrink their appearance. A chemical peel can smooth and rejuvenate the skin of the hands, and injectable fillers such as Sculptra or collagen can temporarily plump bony hands. Collagen injections usually last three to four months, while the other procedures are more permanent.

Hand rejuvenation procedures like those listed above usually take place under outpatient anesthesia. Doctors may reduce the cost of multiple procedures by bundling them together. Depending on the services you receive, expect to pay $1,500 to $5,000 for cosmetic hand rejuvenation.
