The American Massage Therapy Association has found that the number of adults receiving massages from a licensed massage therapist has more than doubled since 1997. Many healthcare providers are beginning to recognize massage therapy as a treatment for lower back pain. Massage can reduce physical pain, alleviate depression and anxiety, and improve the quality of one's sleep. Some effects of massage therapy include improved blood circulation, improved range of motion, muscle relaxation, and increased endorphin levels.
Any soreness you may have should dissipate over the next 24 to 36 hours. You should feel more relaxed and feel less pain in the areas that previously hurt.
