 Titan

Titan Skin Tightening technology was recently discussed on ABC morning TV show "The View," featuring Barbara Walters. The topic of the show centered on non surgical face lift alternatives.

The Titan ("tighten") procedure is a safe, non-surgical process that uses an infrared light source to tighten skin and reverse the signs of aging. The Titan heats the dermis to cause collagen contraction while preserving the epidermis through continuous cooling. In addition, Titan can stimulate long-term collagen rebuilding that leaves patients with younger looking skin.

Used to treat lax and redundant skin throughout the body, Titan is effective on the abdomen, thighs and underarms - and is also used to tone, lift and tighten skin on the face and neck. The TITAN laser safely and comfortably tightens the skin and reverses the signs of aging without downtime. No anesthesia is ever required.

Kate Somerville, skin care expert to the stars, discusses Titan on VH1's The Fabulous Life

What is the technology behind Titan?

The Titan Procedure utilizes a blended, infrared light source to reverse the signs of aging. Titan essentially tricks the body into repairing the skin by creating significant heating in the dermis. The overall skin structure contracts due to the applied heat and subsequent collagen denaturing which continues over time.

What happens during the procedure?

Following a brief initial evaluation, a thin layer of aloe gel is gently spread on the area to be treated to facilitate the movement of the treatment head. The treatment head can cover an area about the size of a nickel. The actual treatment occurs in six second cycles and feels like an initial cooling and a short heating cycle followed by a cooling phase. The brow, lower face, and neck can usually be treated in an hour.

No after care is required beyond your usual skin care. Results begin to be apparent by the conclusion of the treatment and continue to build over the next few days.

NEWS from Cutera
BRISBANE, Calif., March 28, 2007 Cutera, Inc. (Nasdaq: CUTR), a leading provider of laser and other light-based aesthetic systems for practitioners worldwide, today announced FDA clearance for its new laser, Pearl, with proprietary YSGG technology. Pearl is cleared for the treatment of wrinkles and represents the first application of the 2790 nm wavelength for cosmetic dermatology.

During treatment, Pearl removes a portion of the epidermis with a controlled thermal effect. The thermal effect creates a natural protective dressing on the skin to minimize downtime during the restorative process.

"What differentiates Pearl from traditional resurfacing products is its ability to denature a controlled depth of epidermis with minimal immediate tissue removal at the skin's surface," said E. Victor Ross, MD, board-certified dermatologist at Scripps Medical Center in San Diego. "This is an important benefit for restoring the skin's structure and vitality."

"We chose the YSGG wavelength because our current and prospective customers want a more aggressive solution to complement our non-ablative, no-downtime procedures," said Cutera President and CEO, Kevin Connors. "By introducing Pearl, we are entering into an emerging aesthetic market segment currently estimated at approximately $150 million per year and projected to be growing in excess of 30% per year."

In spring of 2006, Cutera introduced 3D Rejuvenation, a highly effective trio of laser treatments designed to target uneven pigment, pore size, wrinkles, and elicit collagen contraction over time. 3D treatment includes three of Cutera's best technologies: Photo Genesis, Laser Genesis, and Titan.
