Dr. Khokar takes pride in offering the latest in ophthalmologic care and technology all in a comfortable and relaxed setting. Sugar Land Eye & Laser Center was founded by its medical director, Dr. Amjad P. Khokar. After treating patients in other eye clinics in the Houston area, Dr. Khokar felt inspired to found a practice based on the ideals he felt so important.
Dr. Khokhar was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana. After graduating from the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, he came to Houston to begin his premedical training. Dr. Khokhar graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rice University. Subsequently, he completed medical school at Baylor College of Medicine. Most of his internship was spent at Ben Taub General Hospital before beginning his residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch.
During his residency, Dr. Khokhar received surgical training in LASIK from internationally recognized pioneers in the field. Dr. Khokhar has now performed thousands of eye surgeries. He is skilled in surgeries to treat cataract, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, pediatric eye surgery, plastic surgery, eye trauma, as well as laser vision correction with LASIK.
Dr. Khokhar performed LASIK surgery at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital before establishing his own LASIK clinic this year in Sugar Land. He is extremely well-trained and experienced with LASIK and other refractive surgeries. Dr. Khokhar considers a personal approach to LASIK vital to a successful outcome.
Dr. Khokhar is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the Harris County Medical Society, and the Houston Ophthalmic Society. He has been awarded for his performance on the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program Examination and American Academy of Ophthalmology Written Qualifying Exam. Dr. Khokhar volunteers in the local community and enjoys speaking to local organizations about eye health issues. He has been married for three years and enjoys spending his free time with his wife, Amber, and their daughter, Sara.
The Sugar Land Eye & Laser Center offers late hours on Tuesday from 3pm - 8pm and weekend hours on Saturday from 9am-1pm.
