How does Venus Freeze work?
Procedures Reviewed: Venus Freeze
Heating Stimulates Skin Tightening
Venus Freeze combines radiofrequency energy and pulsed magnetic fields in a single device. The result is heating of the skin and soft tissues that stimulates skin tightening, fat reduction and collagen growth. The magnetic component speeds healing following radiofrequency treatment allowing treatments to be performed up to once each week.
The treatment is performed with an ergonomic, very comfortable hand piece which glides over the patients face, neck or body. The energy is conducted through a smooth glycerin jelly and transferred to the tissue. Once a target temperature is reached, it is maintained for the duration of the treatment. The target temperature actually feels very good similar to a hot stone massage making the treatment a pleasant experience. In the hands of an experienced provider, the risks are minimal.
Uniformed Distribution Of Heat
The Venus Freeze is a radiofrequency device used for skin tightening and cellulite reduction. It works by using a combination of Radio Frequency and Multi-Polar Magnetic Pulse that uniformly distributes a deep heat penetration to the underlying layers of the skin.
This process triggers the skin to heal naturally while stimulating the production of new collagen, elastic fibers and the formation of new blood vessels. The treatment delivers a highly uniform heat energy that reaches multiple depths under the skin to allow for better treatment outcomes
Multi-polar Device Creates Deep But Gentle Heat
All RF devices work through "poles". There are positive poles and negative poles. When using a monpolar device such as Thermage or Pelleve the energy is delivered through the positive electrode and the negative or opposing electrode is located elsewhere on the body to allow the energy to pass through the skin creating sufficient heat to cause some destruction of collagen.
This destruction alerts the "remodeling" process resulting in fibroblasts (new baby collagen cells) that will create brand-new collagen. The difficulty arises with these modalities when the treatment proves to be too painful for some to tolerate, and because the energy delivery is quite brief, the improvement is often minimal. The difference with Venus Freeze is the it is "multi-polar". The body hand piece contains eight electrodes arranged in a circle that alternate between positive and negative in milliseconds. Therefore the energy flows from one electrode to its opposing electrode across from it and creates a deep, gentle heat, much deeper and more concentrated than a mono-polar device. Since it heats the tissue as a unit, the heat build-up is more gradual and actually feels good. The continual movement of the hand piece creates a sensation very comparable to a hot-stone massage. The new collagen created is tightly wound providing a tightening appearance throughout. Additionally, Venus Freeze contains a magnetic pole that assists in angiogenesis, or a growth of new blood vessels to help nourish the tissues. With all heating devices a burn is possible, but it is only possible if the operator would stop the movement of the handpiece.
